Hi and welcome! My name is Kendra and I am the proud mother of two young boys. Parenting is a team effort with my patient husband, and a little bit of a circus with two rescue dogs. My philosophy on parenting is ever-changing and I approach it with humor. I have a fond appreciation for art, yoga, quiet, and comedy.
The title of this blog stems from my passion for painting, which has largely alluded me since becoming a mother. But parenting is a new experience in art, and I often like to visualize what my “maternal canvas” would look like. A beautiful mess, I suppose.
Setting the tone of what you should expect from me on this blog, I hope to provide some relatable content interspersed with humor. At the very least, I want you to look at my life and laugh, with me or at me, I don’t care. There is a lot of heavy stuff out there these days, and I believe everyone deserves to escape reality with a good laugh.
Writing is my 9-5 job. I spend a lot of time with words, so why not spend a little more? Enter the blog. I hesitate to categorize this as a parenting blog, because I am in no way claiming to have any expert advice on that topic. This is just my story. And I hope you join me on this strange, beautiful journey.
So at the risk of sounding completely arrogant, I hope you stick around to read my thoughts on parenting, pets, relationships, and everything else that pops into my head. It’s gonna be weird. But, it’s gonna be real.
Kendra has been featured in some of the top parenting publications, including Her View From Home, Today Parenting Team, TODAY, CafeMom, Filter Free Parents, and Omaha World Herald. She is also a top writer on Medium publications, P.S. I Love You, The Ascent, and The Startup. In 2019, Kendra published a book on her experience with a type 1 diabetic pregnancy.
